CAM Search Algorithm through external DRAM patent

Ethernity Networks Ltd, a leading supplier of System on Chip Multiservice Fabric Flow Processors for Carrier Grade Ethernet appliances, today announced that is has been awarded patent number 8,345,685 by the US Patent Office for a "METHOD AND DEVICE FOR PROCESSING DATA PACKETS". The present invention relates to methods and devices performing advanced search mechanisms to process, classify, filter and forward data packets and perform various searches on a data packet including Layer 2 to layer 4, protocols, or other combinations of key types. The invention relates to methods and devices that achieves the performance of Search performed by CAM, using external DRAM memory to reduce the need for costly external CAM.

This patent and Ethernity's previous approved patents relate to the integration of the ENET System on Chip architecture into small and low cost FPGA while competing with off the shelves ASSP, on functionality, flexibility, scalability and programmability.

With hundreds of thousands of devices deployed in field based on ENET System on a Chip architecture, this patent and Ethernity's previous approved patents further strengthen Ethernity's position in the global Carrier Ethernet Market.
